Taste, digestion and mood

Taste is closely linked to memories and feelings that we have experienced. As such, the effect of taste on our mood is similar to how a pices of music or a pice of art can make us feel. Positive attitude regarding food: taste is unique nonetheless we observe that the taste is the same for many food products. That taste can influence our mood to this point becomes less surprising when one compares the impact of our other senses. It is clear that music can render us cheerful, calm or stressed. The smell of a rose is closely linked ot the sense of love. Natural colors and a natural environment usually brings a sense of calm whether experienced through vision or our other senses.
 
Can our thoughts and feelings be influenced and/or distorted by our nutrition? First and foremost one shoudl avoid foods taht have a negative effect on our mood. This means foods whith a minimum nutritional value to those that have a strong physical effect on us such as sugar, alcohol, coffee, cafeine etc. Further we must pay close attention to the preparation of the food that we consume, their digestability etc. which can be directly linked to emotional pain or stress. Hence, one should opt for a stable, fresh and healthy nutrition that gives our body the necessary vital substances forming and maintaining a equilibriated mood.

The life expectancy rate in developed countries has accelerated since the last couple of decades. This can be attributed to progress in hygene, in particular in relation to treatment of food and improvement in vaccines against infectuous diseases, which has greatly reduced the child mortality rate. However, the sad truth is that even though great progress has been achieved in this area, there has been a grave increase in obesity, diabetes, cardovascular related illnesses as well as cancer (Xavier Leverve).

 
Keep in mind that children and young adults that are suffering from overweight today could come to suffer from illnesses such as diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and cardiac related illnesess.
 
The health dangers of consuming too much sugar are numerous:
The excess consumption of suger can lead to a dependancy that is very similar to the dependancy of drugs. This can lead to increased stomach acid and intestianl fermentations that can disturb the bacterial flora. This in turn can lead to constipation, diverse reactions of the colon, or aggrevated mycosis which can lead to chronic fatigue.

Natural sweeteners are a great option for reducing carlorie intake. When we try to loose weight or not to gain weight, it is often believed that one has to remove all sugar intake from one’s diet.
